Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson slapped opponent Jake Paul on Thursday as the two men faced off for the final time ahead of their controversial Netflix-sponsored bout. Tyson, 58, slapped Paul red across the cheek with his right hand after the official weigh-in for the bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday. A group of security guards quickly arrived after the incident and separated the two fighters before Tyson was taken away.
Tyson, who stepped on the scale wearing only Versace underwear and weighed in at 228.4 pounds, said little before leaving the stage.
Paul, a 27-year-old YouTuber and boxer, claimed Tyson’s slap didn’t hurt, drawing gasps from the audience.
“I didn’t feel it — he’s angry. “He’s an angry little elf … cute slap bro,” Paul said, tipping the scales at 227.2 pounds.
