TOI Washington Correspondent: The oldest person ever to become a US president will be the youngest press secretary in White House history.

MAGA Party leader and President-elect Donald Trump on Friday named 27-year-old Caroline Leavitt as White House press secretary, one of the most closely watched jobs in the world. In doing so, he continues his fast track of appointments in his administration, which still has two months to go before he takes office.

Caroline Leavitt’s Career

Leavitt began her career in the Trump administration shortly after graduating in 2019, first as presidential press secretary and later as deputy press secretary.

“I arranged high-pressure briefings for Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and took on the biased mainstream media,” the BBC said on its 2022 election campaign website.

After leaving the White House, Leavitt served as communications director for Elise Stefanik, the senior Republican congresswoman nominated by President-elect Trump to be ambassador to the United Nations.

Leavitt left that position to run for Congress, securing the Republican nomination for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District in 2022. However, she lost to Democrat Chris Pappas in the general election.
