Suriya’s latest release Kanguva has clocked solid numbers on its opening day at the Indian box office. Though the film received mixed reviews on Thursday, it has grossed around Rs 220 crore on its opening day at the domestic ticket window.

Kanguva’s overall occupancy was 37.25% for Tamil 2D shows and 49.89% for Tamil 3D shows. Hindi 3D, Hindi 2D, Telugu 2D and Telugu 3D shows recorded 11.47%, 58.12%, 12.64% and 39.28% cinema occupancy respectively.
The film’s Kannada 2D screenings recorded an overall occupancy of 15.49%. According to film trade portal Saknik, the Malayalam 2D screening recorded a cinema occupancy of 21.78 percent.

“Kangooba is also one of the noisiest films you can watch in a cinema. “The decibel levels of all the characters, from Suriya and Reddy Kingsley to Bobby Deol, are too high. Plus, Devi Sri Prasad’s music and thumping background music make you want to wait for a moment of silence,” said a review in India Today.
